Some of the most famous voices in the history of San Remo performed on the sidelines of the 16th Eurasian Economic Forum, organized in Samarkand by the Conoscere Eurasia Association
In Central Asia, everyone is crazy about San Remo. Al Bano, Matia Bazar, and Ricchi e Poveri brought a particle of the song festival to Samarkand. The evening of “Stars of San Remo in Uzbekistan” was a moment of delight for the local public. It was an opportunity for friendship and communication on the sidelines of the 16th Eurasian Economic Forum, organized by the Conoscere Eurasia Association.
The concert took place on the territory of “Silk Road Samarkand,” a modern multifunctional resort that has become a tourist attraction and a cultural and business landmark not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the entire Central Asia. The name clearly references the “Silk Road” that crossed the country since the second century and made Samarkand an important center of trade between West and East.
The evening was opened by a tribute band to Adriano Celentano, who brought to the stage some of the most famous hits from “Molleggiato” (“springy,” “lounging,” Celentano’s nickname – ed.), warming up the passionate audience, in particular with the famous “Azzurro.”
Then it was the turn of Matia Bazar, which gave the Silk Road audience a musically explosive performance, supported by the beautiful singing of the new vocalist Luna Dragonieri, who is able to reach the tones of Antonella Ruggiero. Then the stage was taken by the powerful voice of Al Bano, a musical icon whose popularity has largely extended beyond the borders of Italy. The singer from Cellino San Marco excited the participants with his best hits, especially the very popular, also in Uzbekistan, “Felicità,” and offered a cover of “Volare” by Domenico Modugno, with which he opened the performance, and one more by Lucio Dalla with a memorable interpretation of “Caruso.”
To conclude the evening, the band Ricchi e Poveri, now composed of Angelo Sotgiu and Angela Brambati, opened their performance, which completed the concert, with the song “Sarà perche ti amo,” a timeless classic and platinum in Italy and gold album in Spain, Germany, Austria, France, and Switzerland.
