After 53 years, from desert to green and lush land: the development of the United Arab Emirates is based on the values promoted by the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum
The importance of labor, the love for one’s land, and the value of dialogue and cooperation. His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Sacr Al Kasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, spoke about his land and the development, which has changed the United Arab Emirates in recent years, in his opening speech at the XVII Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, organized by the Conoscere Eurasia Association.
“Our mission is to make our country a better world. In the sixties, Abu Dhabi was a deserted place, today it is full of greenery, this is due to the choices of those who lived in these places with the determination to make their home a better place.”
Al Kasimi talks about the growth of the United Arab Emirates, which recently celebrated the 53rd anniversary of its founding. A process that began as early as the 1950s with a focus on education and then on overcoming a number of problems and difficulties that have shaped the Emirati people.
“When the United Arab Emirates Federation was founded in 1971, no one thought we would come this far. Millions of tourists, companies, progress, thousands of people who come here to call this land their home,” Al Kasimi continued, emphasizing that the values that led to this development are the love for their territory and the desire to do something to make it better, along with a culture of tolerance and inclusiveness.
“Leadership should be based on example and be results-oriented. It is important for us to have strong governance based on pragmatism, meritocracy, respect, tolerance, and strategic patience.”
Often when we talk about the progress of this country, it is defined as a miracle. “But the miracle is the result of the organization’s performance. The Emirates wants to be the best place to live and the best environment to do business. We want to be leaders in energy and technology, we want progressive policies and a diversified economy that can adapt to change, a nation that is not satisfied with what has already been achieved.”
The topic of this Forum, “New Cooperative Architecture for Modern Economy,” is reminiscent of the United Arab Emirates’ strategy: “We seek cooperation, we accept differences to create a beautiful garden,” Al Kasimi concluded, “this is our philosophy, the Emirates’ main goal is to create partnerships with the rest of the world so that everyone in the world is represented in our country. To remove barriers and build bridges: where there is cooperation, the economy is stronger. I hope that the discussions at this forum will lead to closer and more practical cooperation, strengthening economic ties in the Eurasian region through dialog and cooperation.”
