Vision Pro, the revolutionary AR/VR interface presented by Apple last month, will be smaller than expected, as industrialization is reportedly facing supply and technology challenges.
This is the first all-new product introduced by Apple since the iPhone – a visor that promises to become revolutionary is scheduled to enter the US market (later in Europe) in 2024.
However, from the Cupertino-based company’s approximately 1 million units in its first year of life, the number seems to have fallen to 400,000 units. The blame for this drop in the first lot of the visor is laid not so much on the price – at least not for all, as we are talking about $35,000 – but on the difficulties in production and procurement related to both design and innovative functions of the equipment. And according to some sources reported by the Financial Times, the numbers may be even below 200,000 units, as admitted by some Chinese Apple suppliers.
Among the game-changing Vision Pro innovations are micro-OLED screens (those that allow viewing and interacting in augmented or virtual reality), and it is the supply of this equipment over which Cupertino will fight to achieve the expected levels of quality.
Of course, a part of Apple fans are looking forward to actually getting their hands on the Vision Pro. The launch of this tool would be one of the reasons that prompted Apple to hit a record in Wall Street capitalization last week.
