This is exactly what Han Zheng explained in the meeting with Vance
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with his US counterpart J.D. Vance in Washington, DC, where he came to attend Trump’s inauguration ceremony as a representative of President Xi Jinping.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Han explained that China is willing to cooperate with the United States and said that Xi recently had an important phone conversation with Trump in which the two leaders reached many important agreements on the development of China-US relations.
“As long as both sides adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation, they will promote mutual progress, benefit both countries, and make important contributions to world peace and development,” Han explained. Despite differences and friction, China and the USA have tremendous common interests and opportunities for cooperation, and having economic and trade relations is in the common interest.
Vance explained that during a recent telephone conversation between the two leaders, there was “good communication on important issues in the bilateral relationship.”
The fact of the phone conversation between the presidents was confirmed by Trump himself on his Truth social media account, where he described a “very positive” contact with Xi, during which they discussed trade, fentanyl, and the Chinese app TikTok, which was blocked for several hours on January 19, as ordered by Congress and upheld by the Supreme Court, but was reinstated after Trump said he would issue an executive order to postpone the ban.
