Hundreds of angry Palestinians took to the streets in northern Gaza to denounce for the first time the policies of the radical group
For the first time, the anger and frustration of Gaza Strip residents turned not against the Jewish state, but against Hamas: on Wednesday, March 26, in the town of Beit Lahiya, many hundreds of Palestinians chanted slogans against the radical Islamist group. The protest against the war in Gaza took on an anti-Hamas bias and was a rare show of dissent against the group that has long ruled Palestine and still controls the territory. The demonstrators condemned the attack on Israel 17 months ago, which began a bloody conflict that has turned the Gaza Strip into a “dead zone.”
Numerous videos appearing on social media show protesters in the heavily damaged Beit Lahiya holding placards with inscriptions: “Stop the war! Hamas, get out!”
