Greenland: Trump and Danish Prime Minister Had a “Heated” Phone Conversation

This is reported by the Financial Times. Meanwhile, the Senate, with Vice President’s assistance, confirms the nomination of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense

Last week, there was reportedly a “heated” phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The topic of the meeting was Greenland, an island under the Danish protectorate, which the tycoon has repeatedly declared his intention to acquire.

This was reported by the Financial Times, citing “senior European officials” as sources and specifying that the phone call lasted 45 minutes and that Trump reiterated his determination to control the island. The White House has not commented on the situation, while the Danish government published a commentary on January 15 emphasizing that “Greenland is not for sale.”

Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Egede said after Trump’s initial statements regarding Nuuk that the government is working to arrange a meeting with the United States president: “It cannot be overlooked that if the United States wants to talk about Greenland, it has to talk about Greenland.”

Meanwhile, the US Senate has confirmed Pete Hegseth as Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense. A slight difference in votes caused by the opposing votes of three Republican senators. To unblock the situation, it took the voice of Vice President J.D. Vance, who can only vote in the event of a tie. Hegseth, a 44-year-old former soldier and Fox News host, is a particularly controversial figure.
