India Also Develops Artificial Intelligence

India is also developing its own artificial intelligence chatbot. It will be called BharatGP Hanooman and is a result of collaboration between Reliance Industries and eight universities. Hanooman will make advanced artificial intelligence technology available in 11 local languages (including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi, but not Urdu, the language most spoken by the Muslim community), in accordance with a model that involves prioritizing the management of health, education, and financial services.

Reliance Industries, headed by Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in Asia, is India’s largest private company with businesses ranging from petroleum, chemicals, textiles to large-scale organized distribution and telecommunications, and has supported the project, playing an important role for New Delhi in developing artificial intelligence systems with a product that will be “ChatGPT style” according to Indian media reports.

Reliance Jio Infocomm Group, which is also one of the largest mobile operators in the country, is directly behind the project. The leader of the research partners is the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, which is coordinating various universities located in different states of India to make the consortium more representative and artificial intelligence also accessible to the general population who are doing it without knowing English.
