Kremlin: Biden’s Withdrawal is America’s Internal Matter

In any case, Russia cannot expect “anything good” from the USA

Dmitrij Peskov

The Kremlin downplayed the significance and consequences of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the campaign trail. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Biden’s decision “does not concern Russia’s internal affairs and cannot be a priority topic for Moscow.” According to Peskov, “even if we are talking about the election campaign of one of the largest countries in the world, this is not a matter of Russian domestic policy and cannot be a priority topic on our agenda.” The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that it is not Russia’s task to “evaluate Biden’s decisions,” which affect only US voters. “What has happened in recent years in the USA has taught us not to be surprised by anything,” said Peskov, according to whom Russian-American relations are “going through the worst period.”

In this context, Russia cannot expect “anything good” from the United States, judging by the mood among political leaders in Washington. The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that “one way or another, the USA will continue to help Ukraine,” increasing the burden of financial and material obligations for “European subordinates.” Peskov confirmed that Western military and technical assistance to Kiev is prolonging the conflict, “without being able to change the outcome of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.”

In recent days, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has accused the West of specifically preparing for an armed conflict with Russia. The Kremlin sees very well the actions of NATO, which “continues to surround us with its military infrastructure that poses a danger to us,” Peskov concluded, recalling that over the years NATO has systematically rejected all of Russia’s peace proposals that could have prevented an armed conflict with Ukraine and avoided the loss of many thousands of human lives.
