Beijing: Xi Jinping's visit to the Russian capital will strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries
President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China will make an official visit to Moscow, Russian Federation, from May 7 to 10 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. An official Kremlin statement said Xi Jinping “will take part in solemn events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.” In addition, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin (pictured) will hold a series of talks, during which “they will discuss the main issues of further developing the relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between China and Russia, as well as topical issues of the international and regional agenda.”
For its part, ahead of the Chinese leader’s visit to the Russian capital, the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the upcoming summit between Xi Jinping and Putin will deepen political trust between Moscow and Beijing and promote strategic cooperation in all spheres: “President Xi Jinping will hold strategic talks with President Putin on China-Russian relations in the new environment, as well as on a number of important international and regional issues. We are confident that the important consensus reached by the two heads of state will undoubtedly further deepen the mutual political trust between China and Russia, enrich the content of their strategic cooperation, promote practical interaction in various fields, and further benefit the peoples of the two countries, as well as contribute to strengthening stability and positive dynamics in the international community,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, which also emphasized that Russia and China “will continue to deepen their close cooperation within the international organizations, particularly the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and BRICS, with the goal to jointly navigate the world into a constructive and multipolar route.”
