Now even among Democrats, a majority are demanding his departure. Trump leads in all seven swing states
Joe Biden keeps saying he doesn’t want to resign, but the pressure on his shoulders is mounting, and things are moving toward change. His own tone changed from “I’ll only retire if God tells me” to “I’ll retire if the doctor tells me,” which is a long way off. And now the president has been stopped by Covid.
Meanwhile, a new poll by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, published by the New York Times, reveals that nearly two-thirds of Democrats said Biden should step aside and give the party full discretion to choose a new candidate who may have the best chance in the November 5, 2024 presidential election.
The same poll shows that 70 percent of Americans, including nearly half of Democrats, said they are not sure Biden has the mental capacity to be president again. In February, only a third of Democrats thought so. Again, only 37% of Democrats believe he can win, while 72% of Republicans believe Trump can do it.
Meanwhile, another poll conducted by The Times/SAY24 showed Biden at a disadvantage in all swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Only Michigan, where Trump has 42% of the vote to Biden’s 40%, and Pennsylvania, where the ratio is 43% to 40%, are close.
