According to Iranian Foreign Minister, “it's not only an opportunity, but a challenge”
“On Saturday, Iran and the United States will meet in Oman for high-level indirect talks. This is not only an opportunity, but a challenge. The ball is on America’s side,” the Iranian diplomat wrote, as reported by the TASS news agency.
Trump has said that if the dialog fails, “Iran will be in great danger because it can’t have nuclear weapons,” and the president has previously talked about additional duties and even went as far as bomb threats. The talks will be “indirect” because Iran has refused to engage in direct dialog with the United States but has endorsed negotiating through mediators.
Russia supports these negotiations: Moscow favors a dialog between Washington and Tehran and considers a diplomatic solution preferable. “Certainly, as we have repeatedly stated that we support the settlement of the Iranian nuclear dossier through political and diplomatic methods. If this happens, we cannot but support it,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained, according to Lapresse news agency.
