Both the outcome of the eight-month-long war in Gaza and the post-war structure of the occupied territories remain unknown. The operation announced in Rafah continues to raise international concern about the further devastating impact it could have on the Palestinian civilian population. An arrest warrant for Netanyahu for war crimes was requested by the prosecutor’s office of the criminal court in The Hague. Israel generally condemns the Court, and so does Washington. Biden continues his wavering attitude toward Israel’s prime minister. Meanwhile, US leadership should note troubling trends regarding the future supremacy of the dollar. Robert H. Wade of the London School of Economics illustrates in his essay the process of de-dollarization now underway and identifies signs in the position of many African states that may worry future occupants of the White House. And Europe is more uncertain than ever, lurking in the run-up to the June elections. As a result, as Ambassador Alberto Bradanini analyzes, it is unlikely that there will be elements that can spice up its actions.
